Highlight
At the end of August this year, I went away for 3 days on HOUSE conference. This is a conference run by Youthworks to equip kids and youth ministers to disciple young people in our churches in a way that builds them up but is also in line with our biblical principles. HOUSE Conference is committed to aligning out principles and our practice, looking firstly at what the Bible has to say about a certain topic, and then applying it to our ministries.
This year the topic was ‘All the Feels’, and we looked at a topic that Anglicans in particular are generally wary of: emotions and desire. It was really fun and challenging to think through things like is all desire bad? Are there ‘good’ and ‘bad’ feelings? Are feelings a part of the Fall? Should we encourage or reprimand children for their big feelings? If you’re at all interested in these things – come and chat with me at our Supporter’s Event on the 1st of December (shameless plug haha)! Above all, HOUSE Conference has pushed me to think through how do we at St. John’s celebrate children, who are perhaps the most feeling-full members of our churches, by encouraging them to bring all their big feelings to God.

This has definitely been the biggest highlight in the past couple of months, but if you’re keen to hear more about what I and the other MTS-ers have been up to – please do join us at the Annual Update event on the 1st of December at 7pm in the Parish Hall! We’d love to see you there!
Thanks for:
- Children, who remind us of the goodness of emotions and desires
- HOUSE Conference – the ability to dive deeply into God’s word, and to connect with other gospel workers
Pray for:
- Wisdom to apply what I have learnt well
- A restful leave, as I go on holidays for the next week
- Our Supporter’s Event to be an encouraging time for all those there
