Preeti’s January 2023 Update

Highlight

Towards the end of January, I got to start up as an MTS-er at St. John’s. Although moving churches has been stressful, I’ve been getting a hang of things and meeting lots of people! I’m really grateful for the community at church – you guys have been really encouraging and loving!

In mid-Jan, Nate, Helen and I were able to go to the G8 conference, a national MTS conference down at Stanwell Tops! It was so much fun to be able to gather together, with so many MTS-ers from around Australia (and further afield). I particularly enjoyed working through the book of Haggai, and being reminded of why we do ministry in the first place – for God’s glory with Jesus as the center.

Here’s a group photo, can you spot your MTS apprentices?

Learning

I’m still in the process of settling in to St. John’s. At the moment, I’m trying to work out how ministries work, what my role actually looks like, my place in the staff team, and how I can use my travel time well. While doing all these things, I’ve also been reminded of how important resting is! One of Gary Koo’s sessions at G8 was a (not so) gentle reminder that resting in God is knowing you can’t do everything, and that you need God desperately. Even more so, when we don’t rest, we are questioning God’s sovereignty and power! Rest is not only good for you, but also for ministry and the people you’re serving. So rest up!!

Praise Points:

  • Thank God for G8 and being able to meet together
  • People much wiser than us who can guide and train us

Pray for:

  • God to help me settle in to a new church
  • I would be able to prioritise rest
