Preeti’s Jan 2024 Update

Highlights

SWEATCON

On the 16th-19th of January, I got to run the preschool program for SWEATCON. It’s all about training up people in SW Sydney to share the gospel in that region, but in a way that is accessible to them. Something encouraging I found about SWEATCON was that actually all the volunteers were helping out, despite the fact that it didn’t directly benefit their own church in any way. But, it meant that they were all serving something bigger than their local church – all these volunteers were getting together, to help run a conference that encourages mission, because telling people about Jesus is the main game!

For the preschoolers, I was challenged to think about how to encourage mission, but in a way that is age appropriate for them. In the end, I wrote a program on the story of the whole Bible, and taught the kids actions to the phrase “Jesus saves the whole world!”

This meant that, even if the kids didn’t remember much of the lessons, they were constantly being reminded that “Jesus saves the whole world”. After the conference, one of the mums even sent me a video of her kids doing the actions and saying the phrase!! My hope and prayer is, that God will use even the youngest of our brothers and sisters to share the good news of Jesus.

Rosemeadow supporters event

On the 27th, I ran a supporters event for my old church in Rosemeadow. It was so encouraging to see people gather together, on a day when they wouldn’t normally come to church, to hear about what I’ve been up to!

God has been very kind to me, and I’ve been very well loved and raised up by my home church. People stuck around for over 2 hours after the formal part of our time – just to chat with me and catch up! I’m very thankful for the support that these guys give me, cheering me on from the sidelines and praying constantly!!

Engagement

I apologise this has been a long letter – apparently January has been a busy month! The last big thing that happened, was that I got engaged!

Josh and I planning to get married in November this year – please be praying that we would be prayerful in our relationship, preparing well for a lifetime of serving God together.

2024

Which leads into the last thing: what will I be doing this year?

  • I’ll still be involved in the kids ministries at St. John’s! Which means I’ll continue to serve with the kids church leaders at 9:30 and 11am and to teach SRE.
  • I’ll also be continuing to go to college, and I’m very excited because I only have 2 units left for me to get my degree!! Next year I’ll be taking the children’s ministry elective and Old Testament Genesis – 2 Kings Overview.
  • But I’ll do that until November. Because, if you haven’t already heard, I’m getting married this year! Josh and I are planning to get married in November this year. Which is very exciting!

Thanks for:

  • SWEATCON and for it’s work in mission and evangelism, especially for my leaders who did a fantastic job in caring for the preschoolers
  • Supporters at Rosemeadow, who are constantly looking for ways to love and care for me
  • Josh and my relationship, and for the joy of being engaged

Pray for:

  • For the preschoolers at SWEATCON to want to share Jesus
  • That 2024 would be a year where I continue to grow to become mature in Christ, using every gift he’s given me for the building up and service of his body
  • That God would give me wisdom as I navigate changes in my life and ministry, and as I think through what life after MTS looks like
  • Josh and I to prepare well for our big day, and prepare even more for a lifetime of serving God together
